The Canadian Tax Foundation-Fasken Martineau DuMoulin Award for Ontario 2005-6

Alissa Gabel

The Canadian Tax Foundation is pleased to announce that Alissa Gabel is the winner of the 2005-6 Canadian Tax Foundation-Fasken Martineau DuMoulin Award for Ontario for the best student paper submitted on matters affecting the Canadian tax system. Ms. Gabel wrote "The Tax Implications of Chaoulli: An Evaluation of the Likely Tax Treatment of Expanded Private Health Care" as a student in Osgoode Hall Law School's LLB program, from which she graduated in 2006. Ms. Gabel was also awarded the Aird & Berlis LLP Prize in Contracts, the Bereskin & Parr prize for Copyright Law, the Lang Michener LLP Prize in Commercial Law, the McMillan Binch LLP prize in Contracts, and the Scotiabank Group Prizes in Estates Law and in the Law of Trusts. She graduated with a BA in psychology from York University in 2003. Ms. Gabel is currently articling at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Toronto.
