Douglas J. Sherbaniuk Distinguished Writing Award –

Matias Milet

Matias Milet is the 2008 recipient of the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Douglas J. Sherbaniuk Distinguished Writing Award. His article, “Permanent Establishments Through Related Corporations Under the OECD Model Treaty,” was published in (2007) vol. 55, no. 2 Canadian Tax Journal 289-330. The article was selected by a committee of experienced tax professionals as the best writing published by the Foundation in 2007. The award, which is conferred annually, is named for the Foundation’s late director emeritus.

Matias Milet received his LLB from McGill University in 1999 and is an associate in the Tax Department at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto. He joined Osler in 2004, prior to which he practised US tax law with a leading US law firm. He practises in the areas of international tax, investment funds, private equity funds, and tax-exempt entities.
