Douglas J. Sherbaniuk Distinguished Writing Award – 2010
Adam Parachin is the 2010 recipient of the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Douglas J. Sherbaniuk Distinguished Writing Award. His article, “Reforming the Meaning of ‘Charitable Gift’: The Case for an Alternative to Split Receipting,” was published in (2009) 57:4 Canadian Tax Journal 787-838. The article was selected by a committee of experienced tax professionals as the best writing published by the Foundation in 2009. The award, which is conferred annually, is named for the Foundation’s late director emeritus.
Adam Parachin received his BA in 1996 from the University of Toronto, his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000, and his LLM from the University of Toronto in 2004. He is currently an associate professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario. He was previously an associate in the estate-planning department
of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.
